Live Virtual Classroom: Insights
We have been delivering virtual HR trainings and certifications for quite some time now and what it seemed rather challenging 12 months ago, turned out to be a fantastic experience. Given that the LVCs are becoming increasingly popular in the modern workspace, we thought of sharing some tips from our own experience. Get inspired by our Top 3 Live Virtual Classroom insights.
- Four is better than 8
If your normal, in-class, training day is anything like hours, then you are probably delivering 8h training sessions with a lunch break somewhere in between and a couple of coffee breaks. Well, you might probably want to reconsider that when it comes to live virtual classroom delivery. Technically nothing is impossible, yet if you want to keep your learners focused, energized and engaged, consider designing daily modules of maximum 4 – 5 hours - Short sessions, multiple breaks
Plan your training day way in advance by keeping in mind the 75/15 rule of thumb. For every 75 min session, schedule time for a 15 minutes’ break. - The Engagement rule of 10
In the era of social media, you hear a lot that “Content is King, but engagement is Queen” and we couldn’t have said it any better when it comes to delivering live virtual courses. While the content of the course is paramount, the engagement with and between learners is what actually makes all that great content really stick into their minds. Use polls, quizzes, online contests, short videos, games CONSISTENTLY. The more content we try to push without providing the brain with different, new stimulations, the more likely it is to exhaust the brain of our learners. The novelty of an engagement activity reignites the learner’s focus and curiosity. So knowing this, aim to apply the engagement rule of 10 – engage with your attendees every 10 min or so through a variety of activities. The cornerstone of this rule, is constancy.
